What you will learn
All workshops and courses have a maximum of seven places, Nick and Ellen will be on hand to guide you through the workshop and help you get the most out of your time in the printshop. Workshops are designed for people with little or no experience.

One-day workshops: An introduction to hand-setting type and letterpress printing. You will learn the basics of composing type by hand, and how to use some of the brilliant old presses in our printshop. In the afternoon, you will be able to print something of your own.

Two-day workshops: Day one will give you an introduction to hand-setting type, letterpress printing and give you an understanding of the history and language of the craft. You will learn the basics of composing type by hand, and how to use the presses including how to mix ink and register a two-colour print. On the second day, you will be able to develop, typeset and print your own work.

Five-week evening class: Each week you will learn something new about the process of handsetting wood or lead type as well as printing on the range of letterpress machines in our printshop. You will be able to develop your own project and complete the course with a range of finished printed work and a more complete understanding of the process.
